The final draft of the Charter for Ensuring Patients’ Safety and Well-being was approved at the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health held in Parliament recently (09).
This was approved when the Charter was taken up for consideration at the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health held under the Chairmanship of Hon. Mayantha Dissanayake, Member of Parliament.
The final draft of the Charter for Ensuring Patients’ Safety and Well-being was presented to the Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, the Speaker and the Chair of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health Hon. Mayantha Dissanayake, Member of Parliament by Hon. (Dr.) Upul Galappaththi, Member of Parliament and Chair of the Subcommittee appointed by the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health on 06.06.2024.
This final draft was prepared by the Sub-Committee of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health and its panel of experts on the advice and guidance of the World Health Organization. Accordingly, this Charter is considered to be the first Charter prepared to ensure the safety and well-being of patients in the South Asian Region.
