Her Excellency Ms. Qin Boyong, Vice-Chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), (Vice Premier level), paid a courtesy call on the Hon. (Dr.) Jagath Wickramaratne, Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, on 18.12.2024 at the Parliament premises.
The Speaker hosted a luncheon meeting for Her Excellency Ms. Qin Boyong and her delegation, expressing appreciation for the longstanding friendship between Sri Lanka and China. He emphasized the importance of further strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in areas such as Parliamentary cooperation, sustainable development, trade, agriculture, industries and multilateral engagements.
During the meeting, Hon. (Dr.) Jagath Wickramaratne also expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chinese government for its generous support in providing school uniforms for students in Sri Lanka for the year 2025. He further commended China’s significant assistance during Sri Lanka’s recent economic challenges, underscoring the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Her Excellency Ms. Qin Boyong congratulated Hon. (Dr.) Jagath Wickramaratne on his recent appointment as Speaker of the Parliament. She reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s new government in achieving its economic and social development objectives. She also reiterated China’s readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation in key sectors to promote mutual growth and prosperity.

(Mrs.) Saroja Savithri Paulraj, Secretary General of Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera, Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary General of Parliament Mr. Chaminda Kularathna, Ambassador of China to Sri Lanka H.E.
