• UAE to extend an invitation to the Hon. President of Sri Lanka to address the World Governments Summit in February 2025 – Ambassador of the UAE to Sri Lanka tells the Hon. Speaker.
Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Sri Lanka His Excellency Khaled Nasser AlAmeri made a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament of Sri Lanka Hon. Dr. Asoka Ranwala, today (09) in Parliament. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary General of Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera.
Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Khaled Nasser AlAmeri stated that the UAE President is extending an invitation to the President of Sri Lanka Hon. Anura Dissanayaka to address the World Governments Summit in February 2025. He further stated that the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the World Governments Summit in 2024 and next year, they wish for the President of Sri Lanka to address the Summit.
During the cordial discussions held it was also discussed that the best way to fight corruption is to make operational systems of government service online. Accordingly, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Sri Lanka stated that UAE is willing to share their expertise with Sri Lanka. Furthermore, the importance of creating a transparent and appealing investment procedure was also discussed.
His Excellency Khaled Nasser AlAmeri commended the Sri Lankan population living in the UAE stating that they have a reputation for being professional and a peaceful community.
The two parties also discussed regarding potential advancements in the technological and renewable energy sector. The possibilities of expanding investments were also taken into consideration during the cordial discussions held.
Discussions were also held regarding reviving of the Sri Lanka – United Arab Emirates Parliamentary Friendship Association to further strengthen relations between the two nations.
