A special program to raise awareness regarding the parliamentary procedures for students representing the Department of Sociology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura was held recently (04) in Parliament under the leadership of Mr. Chaminda Kularatne, Acting Secretary General of Parliament.
Mr. Hansa Abeyratne, Assistant Secretary General of Parliament, Mr. Jayalath Perera, Director Legislative Services and Director Communications (Acting) of Parliament, Senior Professor Mayura Samarakoon of the Department of Sociology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura were also in attendance at this event held.
During the event, of Mr. Chaminda Kularatne delivered the keynote address, educating students on Parliament and the legislative process. This was followed by an interactive Q&A session where students presented their questions.
Senior Professor Mayura Samarakoon also shared concluding remarks, expressing appreciation for the Department of Communications at the Sri Lankan Parliament for organizing such educational workshops. He further emphasized the University of Sri Jayewardenepura’s interest in collaborating on similar short courses involving Parliament.
Following the awareness program, students were taken on a Parliament tour. This session was organized by the Department of Communications of Parliament.
