Politicians are responsible for the lack of productivity of public servants, who have made appointments without purpose.
Minister Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksha says.
The Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms, President’s Counsel, Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksha today (22nd) morning at the ceremony held at the Ministry of Justice Auditorium for the awarding of letters, expressed these views regarding the appointment of grade iii in the office work service for the employees recruited as trained employees under the Multi-purpose Development Department and trained in the Ministry of Justice and institutions under the Ministry.
66 appointments of multi-tasking assistants were made today, and so far 698 people have been recruited for the Ministry of Justice and the institutions under it.
Addressing the ceremony of giving new appointment letters, the Minister of Justice said:
Recruitment for government service was not done for the last three years. The situation in the country caused it. However, we worked hard to recruit employees for the judicial system. At present, the public service has become too much for the people to bear. Compared to the country’s population, there are more than double the number of government employees. But the required institutions do not have officers.
The productivity of the public servant has decreased. Politicians are responsible for this situation. For narrow political purposes, civil service officers were increased as civil service jobs were provided. Since the recruitment of government employees was done without purpose, there are many officers sitting without duty in government institutions. All of you are fortunate to join the public service in a situation where recruitment is not done.
The Minister also stated that since the people are paying more attention to the work of the Ministry of Justice, which carries out the justice process, than other institutions, they are requested to commit themselves to providing an efficient and honest service so that the people’s aspirations are fulfilled.
Rohana Hapugaswatta, Additional Secretary (Administration) of the Ministry of Justice and other senior officials joined the occasion.
